The response of inverter-based wind and solar generation to recent system disturbances around the world has included unexpected and occasionally severe disruption of supply. Reliability concerns have been raised due to protection and control functions that have resulted in inverter-based generation tripping or ride-through in momentary cessation (aka "blocking") in response to single and multiple grid faults.
