Panel 17 Sep 2018

Modern electric power grid is a complex cyber-physical critical infrastructure that forms the lifeline of our society, its reliable and secure operation is of paramount importance to national security and economic well-being. In recent years, cyber threats to the power grid has been increasing both in numbers and sophistication, including two attacks on Ukrainian power grid (2015, 2016) and several attack attempts targeted towards energy infrastructures in US and several European countries in the summer of 2017. In this context, there is a growing need to develop pragmatic methodologies, metrics, and tools to systematically understand the cyber threats, attacks, and consequences that will be utilized to develop risk assessment, risk mitigation algorithms including attack prevention, anomaly detection, and attackresilient control algorithms. This panel will bring international experts both from academia and industry/government laboratories to have a broad discussion on the various methodologies, metrics, and tools that are beneficial to the stakeholders. The experts will also share their experiences via case studies. The panel will be beneficial to broad audience coming from academic, industry, and government laboratories.
