Panel Session 06 Aug 2019

In the currently active revision of IEEE 1782, there are ten outage categories used for macro level benchmarking to provide a starting point for utilities looking to establish methods for tracking reliability through outage cause codes. In recognition of the need for more granular benchmarking to better grasp industry trends, the Distribution Reliability Working Group has developed a set of subcategories to enhance the ten categories currently used. This panel session will share the expanded subcategories to be balloted in the next revision of the 1782 guide to a broader audience and present how utilities plan to incorporate the new subcategories into existing outage cause code collection procedures.
