Panel Session 03 Aug 2020

The establishment of the vast and unique Canadian bulk electricity transmission networks over the second part of the 20th century has been enabled through the development of a number of design and simulation tools by Canadian utilities and entities. These tools, which cover off-line and real time simulations, have had over time a worldwide impact in the development and operation of power systems. This panel offers an opportunity, through the presentation of large power system projects, to discuss the tangled histories of these tools and explain how they came to be what they are now. Panelists will also discuss how they see these tools evolving in a context of wider electricity system integration across North America.
