Panel Session 04 Aug 2020

The broad objective of the panel is to have a discussion of the potential and emerging role of low frequency AC technology in power transmission systems. Panelists will present papers in the following three categories: (1) Discussion of approach, potential applications, opportunities and challenges (2) Discussion of specific applications including off-shore wind, long-distance transmission, multiterminal systems and retrofit of existing lines (3) Discussion of power conversion techniques, control approaches, protections systems, etc. All the presentations will have a thread of comparison with classical HVDC, MMC/HVDC, FACTS and HVAC systems
