Panel Session 05 Aug 2020

This panel presents novel ICT infratrucure developments that aim to fully enable and increase Transmission System Operator – Distribution System Operator system and business related interaction. Specific details of US, European and further international R&D activities will also be presented. The panel session will highlight that overall power system operation and planning at both an overall system and business level will be required to change significantly as a consequence of ongoing and emerging active distribution network developments. The conventional approach to the operation and planning of transmission and distribution networks as virtually separate entities, with limited coordination, will no longer be applicable or practical at an overall system or business level in the near future. In addition, quantifiable business and/or system use cases will be assessed in order to justify required levels of data and information exchange to enable enhanced TSO-DSO and related market interaction.
