Panel Session 05 Aug 2020

The rise in the number of responsive customer-side assets (generation, storage, and flexible load) provides challenges and opportunities for coordinated operation of these assets for system benefits. Architectural structures, concepts, and frameworks are needed to provide context for safe and reliable integration of these distributed energy resources (DER). The panel presents architectural frameworks for DER integration that are emerging and efforts that are underway socialize this material to gain alignment throughout the power industry so that technical standards, business processes, and the related organizational changes can advance in preparation for managing high penetrations of DER.
