2020 PES GM 8/5 Panel Session: Time-Varying and Interlaced Harmonics: Nature, Visualization and Practical Implications

This panel will cover the nature and visualization of time-varying harmonics and the inter-frequency interactions. Highly distorted time-varying waveforms will be analyzed using time-frequency signal processing in order to better visualize their time behavior. The impact of background harmonic distortion will also be investigated based on their impact on other frequencies (crossed-frequency) interlacement. Considerations on the practical implications will be made in light of the expected increase of highly distorted time-varying harmonics in the context of smart microgrids.
