Panel Session 06 Aug 2020

Recent transitions in power production towards hardly predictable renewable sources, more flexible and stochastic load behavior and last but not least the growing amount of stationary and mobile energy storage esp. BEV have introduced uncertainties to system operation. Furthermore, due to decreasing inertia and increasing penetration of power electronics the entire system gets more and more dynamic. While in the past, the most restricting constraints have been steady-state, e.g. congestions, in the near future dynamic boundaries will have an equal or even dominating effect. Therefore, nowadays grid operators have to get prepared to tackle these foreseeable future challenges. DSA has to be able to deal with the described uncertainties and deliver reliable results which power system operators can use to remedy dynamic contingencies.
This panel will discuss solutions to handle uncertainties with experts from all relevant areas. The objective is to prepare solution paths for this current and urgent challenge.
