"Existing operational tools may not provide expected performance and solutions to grid operators during extreme operating events (cascading failures, natural disasters, cyber-attacks). Tools in control centers are intended to meet operational reliability and security criteria for single or double component outages and typically will not help in identifying the most critical problems and needed control actions during multiple outages. This panel will focus on the needs and challenges of the expected performance of tools in the control center during extreme events and will provide an overview of existing solutions for the operational tools needed for resilient operations. Specially, situational awareness with a reduced set of measurements and decision tools for managing available resources to enhance resiliency will be discussed."
