Europe is heading for a 32% RES share of electricity and heat consumption by 2030, translating into a 50-68% RES share in European electricity demand. Simultaneously, decarbonizing of other sectors triggers their rapid electrification, causing a major increase of electricity consumption. Some countries already face related techno-economic challenges today. Solutions and approaches used for planning and operation of these high-penetrated RES systems will be shared in this panel, which will cover topics related to systems with high share of inverter-based RES or multiple-energy planning and operation across sectors. Both relates to flexibility options, i.e. i) resource flexibilility across sectors (generation and demand side) and ii) operational flexibility inside a sector. Questions are e.g.  How to assess flexibility and how to provide it?  How to compare solutions provided by different Sectors?  How to calculate costs and benefits?  Do market / regulatory rules have to change?
