In February 2021, severe winter storms and record low temperatures in Texas left 4.4 million homes without power for long durations due to multiple day blackouts. The electricity demand and shortage of generating resources due to freezing temperatures exceeded extreme-case estimations. The Texas crisis has initiated a nationwide debate among policymakers and industry experts on the main causes of the crisis and how it could be avoided, resilience implications, and operation of the Texas grid. This panel of diverse industry leaders will discuss the realities of the situation and provide balanced perspective on mechanisms through which the effects could be mitigated in the future.
