Panel 19 Jul 2022

As defined in IEEE 100 Dictionary of Terms, “integration” is the process of combining software components, hardware components, or both into an overall system. (C) 610.12-1990. This panel puts forward the perspective that successful Integration of Energy Storage Systems with power grids is achieved through application of Interconnection and Interoperability Standards, and best practices where standards don’t exist. In this panel session, we’ll hear from active projects developing new IEEE standards relevant to the topics and practice of ES interconnection and interoperability, including IEEE P1547.9 Guide for ES Interconnection, and IEEE P2688 recommended practice for Energy Storage Management Systems in Grid Applications. The panel will also include broader perspectives from other industry groups, including DNP3 and SAE, that coordinate with IEEE’s formal Standards Developing Organization (SDO) activities.
