Panel 20 Jul 2022

The electric grid is currently undergoing major transformation due to rapid integration of high levels of renewable generation, addressing society’s decarbonization requirements and enabling electrification of transportation. At the same time, it is frequently facing major threats s due to extreme weather conditions, such as cold weather, storms, earthquakes and wildfires. We, as an industry are faced with major challenge to improve grid resiliency and make electric system more robust and intelligent. New strategies, technologies and processes need to be identified and implemented in order to support reliable delivery of the electric energy to the end consumer and ensure that the system can be restored in safe, reliable and expedient manner. The proposed panel, organized by the IEEE PES Corporate Engagement Program (CEP) will focus on resiliency issues currently facing the electric utility industry on both Transmission and Distribution areas and discuss new developments, strategies and improvements that are being evaluated and implemented to make grid more resilient.
