The use of forecasts is central to modern power system operation. As the penetration of renewables and complexity of load grow, managing forecast uncertainty has become critical to maintain economic and reliable power system operation. Probabilistic forecasts empower operators with quantitative information about uncertainty but must be integrated with other processes, policies, and regulation. This session will present and discuss recent experience developing new operational practices involving probabilistic forecasting from around the world.
