Panel 18 Jul 2023

The large-scale emergence of renewable energy sources and the consequent empowerment of consumers as a central and active solution to deal with the generation variability are paving the path towards the worldwide emergence of local electricity markets. The effective implementation of local markets required, however, a significant change from traditional electricity transaction models. Consequently, exploring new models, their interaction with current wholesale and retail market structures, and analyzing their potential impact is essential. Multi-agent-based systems are promising solutions to address such dynamic and complex environments, being able to represent the different involved players and their interactions in a straightforward and flexible manner. This panel aims at stimulating the discussion on the importance of current and future agent-based solutions to model, study, and provide decision support to the different entities involved in local electricity market design and actual negotiation. Presentations in this panel session: - Impacts of Energy Flexibility in Transactive Energy Systems with Large Scale Renewable Generation (23PESGM4074)
