Natural gas generation is still the dominant fuel type in many power systems, coupled with residential natural gas usage. The uncertainty of natural gas availability poses a challenge in grid operation today. If not properly mitigated, the risk could cause wide spread outages or load shedding, such as the one during 2021 winter storm Uri and 2022 winter storm Elliot. This panel will invite panelists to share status quo and challenges, and also panelists from research institute to share the latest advances.
