To satisfy the increasing demand for energy and fulfill the Paris Agreement, power systems worldwide are pursuing an accelerated massive replacement of conventional power plants by renewable power plants, and a higher integration between electrical power systems and other energy systems. This entails unprecedented variable operating conditions, and high risk of disruptions and blackouts in future with high societal costs. This panel is devoted to discuss emerging methods for the application of multi-agent systems on the assessment and enhancement of the technical and economic performace for future low intertia multi-energy systems. Thinking about the practical deployment of such methods in academia and industry, several implementation challenges, such as computational efficiency, data requirements, robustness, etc., will be discussed.
