Worldwide decarbonization strategies are in place. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of a specific strategy highly depends on the local contexts like the renewable energy potential, customer load profiles, transmission system development, electrification level, among others. In this context, market design (i.e. energy/capacity, ancillary services, auctions, resilience, market monitoring) and associated computational tools (i.e. operation, expansion planning, auction mechanisms) are playing a key role as enablers of specific decarbonization strategies in Latin America, Europe, and Australia, rich regions in terms of natural resources. This panel session will describe the latest developments from industry, public sector, and academia in these fields for different countries, focusing on Latin America and extrapolating to other regions.
