Integrating renewable sourced inverter-based resources (IBRs) at scale introduces many challenges for power system stability analysis, including increased complexity in dynamic behavior, significant fluctuations in operating conditions, lack of transparency in control implementations, and hybrid dynamics due to inverter switching. Although efforts have been devoted to detailed modeling and numerical studies such as EMT simulation thanks to the advancement of computing capability. It is challenging to obtain analytical and generalizable results from such methodologies. This panel will discuss analytical methods that can be used to analyze the stability of IBR-based power systems.
