Advanced approaches for VVC are being implemented to achieve benefits of energy savings, peak load reduction, and reduced losses on distribution systems. These approaches can be based on centralized control approaches, distributed controls, or a combination. Other new approaches are also being pro- posed that can provide more accurate voltage control across the entire feeder and also respond fast enough to deal with fluctuations associated with high PV penetration, load switching, fast electric vehicle charging, etc. The first panel session will provide updates on these technologies and application of the technologies.
