The validation of algorithms and tools for cyber anomaly detection, classification, localization, root cause analytics, and resilience analysis require a realistic environment that represents with high-fidelity the interaction of the different cyber and physical components that conform the power grid. To this end, in this presentation two testbed approaches are introduced, each one with specific characteristics. The Cyber-Power Testbed integrates OpenDSS with Mininet in order to validate the interaction of detailed communication networks with power distribution simulations and analyze the impact of cyber attacks. The Electromagnetic Real-Time Simulator with hardware-in-the-loop integrates an RTDS with a real-time automation controller (RTAC), digital relays and PMUs, along with physical communication devices allows the development of faults and cyberattacks in real field devices.
