It is difficult to get power system operation data of different scenarios from a physical power distribution system since usually a power distribution runs in normal operation mode. It is not a recommended practice to test different fault and attack scenarios on a physical distribution system since it may disrupt the regular operation of the distribution system. Moreover, the innovative strategies (e.g., advanced distribution grid operation controller, cybersecurity solutions) should be tested and verified meticulously before incorporating them into the real physical system. The Cyber-Physical Power System Resilience (CPSR) testbed is implemented with a view to testing and verifying the distribution system operation controllers and cybersecurity solutions. The CPSR testbed consists of a digital real-time simulator, a grid simulator (power amplifier), a real-time automation controller, feeder protection relays, a software-defined network switch, a physical battery integrated with a bi-direction converter, raspberry PIs, and a server. The testbed facilitates the implementation of numerous faults and attack scenarios which are used as testing and training data for machine learning-based algorithms. The hierarchical distribution grid operation controller is implemented in the CPSR testbed for testing and verifying its functionalities. Moreover, a digital twin-based attack detection strategy is implemented in the CPSR testbed.
