Multi-parametric magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is now recommended prior to prostate biopsies. However, the examination has poor specificity and lacks inter-reader reproducibility. To help radiologists, we developped a zone-specific computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) system based on quantitative imaging. The CAD performed well in an external cohort of patients referred for prostate biopsy and imaged on a MR scanner that was not involved in the training. It provided robust results similar to those of specialized uro-radiologists.
