As technological capabilities increase and distributed energy resources (DERs) become moreand more common, new practices and tools are emerging that support increasingly detailedand complex distribution system planning. In this panel we will talk about bridging the gap between current capabilities and future needs when it comes to distribution system planning. The panel will talk about what is currently available, what is available in a developmental or nascent state and what is still on the horizon. Data needs and availability for varying levels of analysis will also be discussed.
