Electric power systems throughout the world are facing new challenges to efficient and reliable operation with the introduction of large numbers of variable and distributed energy resources. and a paradigm shift from conventional ?load following? to ?generation following? operations. Transactive energy systems provide a means of addressing these challenges. Through coordination via price signals representing system needs, the distributed energy resources become an active part of overall system operations. This panel session will include presentations on transactive energy system constructs, conceptual architectures, regulatory and policy challenges, and practical implementation considerations. Speakers: Jeffrey Taft, PNNL Doug Houseman, Enernex Farrokh Rahimi, OATI Stephen Knapp, PoGens

Chairs:
Ron Melton, PNNL
