This panel session will provide a panoramic view?from practice to prospects?of the smart-buildings space. Panelists are recognized leaders in implementation and project development, standardization and interoperability, and research and innovation. Presentations and discussions will include: Examples of operational microgrid projects, with summaries of benefits achieved; An overview of an exciting ongoing project featuring electric vehicles for demand-side frequency regulation; A review of OpenADR?the lingua franca for automated demand response?including its internationalization and potential profile extensions; Future interoperability challenges for buildings and facilities as compiled by the buildings-to-grid (B2G) SGIP group; A new initiative on complex systems, which is targeting smart buildings as one of its research test beds.
