Chuan-Kang Ting (National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan), Abstract: Composing music is an inspired yet challenging task, in that the process needs to consider various factors such as pitch, rhythm, chord, timbre, musical form, and accompaniment. Recently, algorithmic composition using computational intelligence techniques has received considerable attention. In particular, evolutionary computation is widely used in creation of music and has shown promising results. This talk will introduce the designs and applications of evolutionary computation for music composition. Furthermore, I will present our recent work and discuss the research challenges and future directions.
