The distribution system has recently seen many new technology advancements, forcing engineers to assess the system dynamics in a different manner compared to the past. New benchmark distribution system models and analysis tools are required to ensure these new technology advancements are accurately modeled and appropriately analyzed by engineers using distribution system analysis power flow tools. Panelists will present what is being done to ensure these software tools are evolving to meet the necessary industry requirements. This panel will demonstrate some of the recent developments with software tools along with the results of supplementary test feeder cases, as well as the ongoing effort to establish recommended industry practices for distribution system analysis to ensure the correct actions are taken to evolve the tools for the ever-changing distribution system.
