Abstract
For the last 20 years or so we have been designing for low power, for the next 20 years we will be designing for security. Indeed, security adds an extra design dimension, and optimizing for security is different from optimizing for power, area or throughput. It is important for IOT, mobile and cloud applications. For each of the application domains, it is important to first define the security target, otherwise stated, define the attacker model. Next, security is considered at every design abstraction layer, from applications down to technology. Because missing one link will break the security chain.
