During the lecture, Prof. Han stated that the integration of renewable energy sources like wind turbines, photovoltaics, and solar panels is revolutionizing traditional electrical networks, steering them towards smart grid technology in terms of generation, transmission, distribution, and usage. This transformation is introducing new theoretical and technical challenges in the operation and management of smart grids. In response, a multi-agent system-based strategy has been developed, proving effective in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of smart grids. This strategy includes a distributed secondary control scheme with an event-triggered communication mechanism for AC islanded microgrids, aimed at ensuring frequency regulation and power sharing while reducing communication resource use.
