Abstract: In this module, we describe the design of a 1-58-Gb/s analog PAM4 receiver that can accommodate channel losses as high as 33 dB. We first study the pros and cons of analog and ADC-based PAM4 receivers. Next, we look at the overall architecture and analyze the circuit details. Finally, we study the experimental results.
