Definitions of random variables are introduced first, followed by a detailed model of the SAR return, including assumptions, models, and multi-looking. Estimation of the number of looks is the first application provided. Next, some alternative models are provided, including weays to model texture, as the "universal" model. The second application provided is how to implement a MAP filter. Lastly, future directions are discussed.
