If you take the time to do research on stationary batteries, you will find articles on over 100 stationary battery fires that completely destroyed the facilities. Having been involved in the review of 40 of them, there are things that can be done to reduce the possibility of fires. IEEE, NFPA and others have created a robust set of compliance standards that can reduce the risk of fire, and create installations that are fairly safe. Lessons learned from these situations can further reduce the danger to fire fighters, workers, and the neighborhood. Each Kilowatt hour stored in the system is approximately 1 kilogram of TNT energy potential, how you design and specify your storage system is the difference in safe that system is.
