Public-area mobile robots promise many use cases for municipal settings such as security, inspection, maintenance, local delivery, and hospitality tasks for both indoor and outdoor settings. While this technology varies in its maturity, it is important for cities and their managers to become aware of the multiple directions mobile robotic technology is taking and to start framing readiness programs including a regulatory roadmap. In this webinar, we will review and discuss: The current promise and shortfalls of PMR technology The current opportunities and barriers for PMR deployment The scope of the ISO 4448 technical standard series A view of the near future by working through five Maturity Stages A breakdown of each Maturity Stage into six Deployment Pillars How one U.S. city with two PMR companies already has traffic orchestration problems How a UK city addressed social acceptance for delivery robots, How a Canadian city did the wrong thing, then the right thing, then missed an opportunity. Why it is better to plan your robotic future rather than wait for what the market plans for you (avoiding the e-scooter fiasco) An outline of a Regulatory Roadmap intended to prepare for the introduction of PMRs into cities and facilities
