Abstract: Controllers of grid-connected power converters impact significantly on the performance of the electrical grid, giving rise to phenomena, such as the sub-synchronous interactions, which should be properly studied to ensure a stable operation in the power system. Stability analysis at the system level, when such a system is dominated by grid-connected power converters, is still a challenging study among power converter designers. This lecture shows how to elaborate power converter models compatible with power system models, and how power system analysis techniques should be used and adapted to properly tune the power converter controllers according to given operational requirements.
