Though the applications of a smarter grid are virtually endless and help facilitate shorter restoration times and greater levels of energy efficiency, there is a new emerging challenge for engineers that results from this dependency. More specifically, this new challenge is associated with the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and reliable cyber assets. By stepping through these concerns in detail and considering the aging workforce, this talk explores the role digital natives play in creating and securing future power systems.
