In this December 2022 issue, a new application area of data-driven computing - grid-edge computing for behind-the-meter resources - is presented to the readers. Essentially, grid-edge computing relies on computing power and communication so that many functions can be realized at the consumers' or prosumers' side, or grid edge. Those functions rely heavily on data and may have appeared in the academic literature a long time ago. It is the advancements in the computing hardware and communication that make those functions that rely on data feasible for practical applications. Seven feature articles and one "Technology Leaders" column have been amassed to cover grid-edge computing applications associated with the operation of distributed energy resources and smart buildings. This issue also includes two feature articles from regular submissions, one on the cooling technologies of electric vehicle batteries and one on Singapore's low-carbon energy deployment strategies.
