The idea of embedding economic markets into the electric grid to efficiently integrate renewable energy resources and move toward a smart grid is a hot topic today. The underlying concept is frequently referred to as Transactive Control or Transactive Energy. With intense investigations being carried out by various technical communities on smart grid and renewable energy integration, there's a strong need to delineate what these names represent so that there's clarity and utility in these definitions and terminologies.
