Panel 1: The Road Towards Decarbonizing Smart Cities

Cities occupy only two percent of the world’s landmass but they leave a huge carbon footprint. City residents must struggle with increased congestion, energy, waste and water management issues as well as jammed, polluting transportation systems. Creating smart, green, functional and liveable cities will imply several intelligent approaches, involving complex solutions and multifaceted innovation actions.
