Energy Storage for a Greener and More Resilient Grid by Imre Gyuk

The presentation, by IEEE Smart Grid Expert, Imre Gyuk, will discuss multi-megawatt applications of a variety of energy storage technologies. Major storage facilities recently constructedin Texas, California, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico under the ARRA stimulus program will be presented. As major players begin deploying increasingly more substantial storage projects, operators are recognizing their value for ancillary services. Storage will make renewables dispatchable and enable deeper penetration. It will also make the grid more resilient, improve asset utilization, and prevent outages.
